According to the Public Relations Department of Khajeh Nasir al-Din Tusi University of Technology, the list of the top two percent of the world's most cited scientists was introduced in September 2024 based on the "Stanford University List", which includes 17 faculty members of Khajeh Nasir al-Din Tusi University of Technology.

The publication of the "Stanford University List" is based on the latest findings of the joint project between Elsevier (Scopus) and a group of Stanford University researchers, based on the analysis of Scopus database data, and based on a special methodology. The developed methodology is based on a combination of a set of standardized citation metrics to evaluate the citation impact of researchers in different scientific disciplines and fields, which is called the "composite citation index". This index focuses on the impact (number of citations) instead of focusing on the number of articles, and also looks at information such as the co-authorship pattern and the H-index of the authors.

In the latest report published by this list, the citation performance of authors for published research outputs in 22 main subject areas and 174 sub-areas was analyzed over a one-year period as well as the period from 1960 to 2023. Accordingly, authors who are among the top two percent of highly cited researchers in the world have been introduced in two separate lists (top two percent highly cited researchers for the one-year period 2023 and length of service). The list of top two percent highly cited researchers at Khajeh Nasiruddin Toosi University of Technology based on citation performance for the one-year period (citations for 2023) and length of service is as follows:

List of university researchers in the list of top two percent of researchers in the world in 2024 (based on citation performance for the one-year period of citations for 2023)
